Jake:

Anne:

Cute story...

After today's library program...(wonderful flamenco music and dancers)...

Some friends came to my house for pizza and fun and love (in fact, the tiny foot belonging to one of those friends is in the photo above!).

After a couple of hours at my home, playing with all the stuff we could find, my little friend, Lucia (4), whispered in my ear (it took two tries for me to get it...I love how kids whisper...she was moving her mouth, but not actually *whispering*...), "Do you have anything for me to do?"

Well, DO I!!!

Lucia comes to my library program...so she knows I have LOADS of stuff to do! I took her downstairs to my *library stuff bins* and we looked through them.

She discarded all of my suggestions.

I love that. I knew she had ideas of her own and I wanted to hear them.

She said, "I saw something in someone's room that I want to do..."

She grabbed my hand and PULLED me upstairs (man, she is STRONG for a four year old!) and into my bedroom.

She stood there and pointed to these:

These are my felted wool spirit pouches that I made several years ago...each representing a different and sacred aspect of my life and my journey.

I laughed! Man, this child has GOOD TASTE!!

But I also had a spark of a memory...so Lucia and I sat down on the floor in my bedroom and opened up my own personal craft supply bags.

There they were. Two felted bags that were not finished (felted several years ago...long before Lucia was born even!) because I wasn't happy with the quality of the felting...and one little bag that was completed.

Lucia joyfully and excitedly took one of the bags and said, "I want to put beads and wire on it!" So she proceeded to browse through my extensive bead collection. In her search, she found a wire hand with a bead on it that I had made several years ago...like the pouches, they were just sitting in my craft bag, awaiting just the right moment and just the right person. That moment was now and that person was Lucia (man, she is a Powerful Attractor!).

So we worked. Joyfully. Sillily (yes, it's a word in the AnneO dictionary of Joyful words). Melody and Darby joined us, finishing up one of the other pouches. And then Kate and Isaac came in and they worked with beads and wire, too. It was really wonderful.

I put Lucia's chosen beads on her bag, put a handle on it so she could wear it around her neck, and then added the wired hand w/a spiral in the middle.

She was SO pleased with it.

Isaac was indicating (in the incredible and brilliant and beautiful way he has of communicating with no words) that he would like a "necklace", too...so I put the spirit pouch that was finished around his neck.

They all added little "treasures" that we found in my bag to their pouches, and all was truly well...

Here is Melody and Darby at work on Darby's pouch...

And Darby's finished product...

Thank you, Kate, Lucia, Isaac, Darby, Liam and Melody for coming to our home and MAKING me find time to PLAY!!...at a time when I really needed it...at a time when I had the ridiculous thought that there wasn't a spare second in my life for all this extra fun and love...

I love you guys...

. . . .

And I could end this post now, but I sure couldn't resist photographing the MOST delicious grilled pizza EVER (my secret pizza sauce recipe piled on the olive-oiled and sea-salted grilled dough, topped with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and arugula)...

MMmmmm...

...Just for you, Rachel...
